1st place - «Real Madrid»
In 2022, Spanish Real Madrid once again regained the top spot on the Forbes list and were leaders for the sixth time. At last count, Real Madrid is valued at over $5 billion, up 7% from last year. For reference, in 2021 the Meringues lost the lead to Barcelona, but this year the clubs have switched places in the list, which is not surprising given the merits of Madrid last season. Real Madrid won a record 35th domestic title in 2021-2022, and recently won their 14th victory in the main European Cup - the Champions League group stage.
2nd place – «Barcelona»
Over the past year, the value of this football club has increased by 6%, to $ 5 billion. The largest contract of the blue garnets in this period was the deal with Spotify. The streaming service has acquired the right to rename FC Barcelona's home stadium Spotify's Camp Nou for over $300 million for a four-year period. Most likely, the management of the club will spend these funds on the implementation of its ambitious project - the construction of the largest football stadium in Europe.
3rd place – «Manchester United»
The « bronze » of the rating went to the leading club in terms of the number of hits on the first line of the Forbes list. Over the past 18 years, the Red Devils have become the most valuable football team 11 times. According to the latest estimates of journalists, compared to last year, the value of Manchester United increased by 10%, to $4.6 billion. Midway through the season, the club struck a deal worth nearly $27 million with blockchain company Tezos. In addition, this year the club managed to reach 1st place in the top 5 in terms of operating profit. The figure was $128 million.
4th place – «Liverpool»
The English club Liverpool is valued at $4.45 billion, up 9% compared to 2021. It is worth noting that in the 2020-2021 season, Liverpool signed a new contract with Nike in the amount of $39.5 million per year. Commercial projects and broadcasting of matches with the participation of the Reds are still the main sources of capital formation for the club. Largely due to this, Liverpool managed to increase its operating profit to more than $100 million and revenue to $654 million this year.
5th place – «Bayern Munich»
The reigning Bundesliga champion closes the top five in the Forbes ranking. Bayern Munich are valued at $4.27 billion, just 1% more than last year, according to the latest estimate. Such a slight increase did not allow the German club to stay in the 3rd position, which it occupied last year. At the same time, in the 2020-2021 season, Bayern's commercial income amounted to €345 million, which is the highest figure in football.
