In March 2025, Germany's HCOB Services PMI registered at 50.2, marking its lowest level in four months. This represents a decline from 51.1 in February and falls short of the anticipated 51.6, according to preliminary data. The service sector exhibited a loss in momentum, characterized by minimal growth in business activity and a notable drop in new orders—the steepest in over a year. Companies have attributed this decline to cautious consumer spending in response to market uncertainties. Nonetheless, despite the faltering demand, there was a slight uptick in employment within the service sector. Cost pressures have eased, with both input costs and prices rising at the slowest rate observed in five months. Encouragingly, business sentiment showed modest improvement as the first quarter drew to a close.
