Slovenia Retail Sales Fall 2.3% In December

Slovenia experienced a decline in retail sales volume turnover in December, primarily attributed to a slump in the demand for food products, according to initial data released by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia on Tuesday.

The retail sales volume witnessed a monthly reduction of 2.3 percent in December. Notably, the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco plummeted by 3.9 percent.

Additionally, sales of non-food items witnessed a decrease of 1.2 percent compared to November, with a marked decline of 1.6 percent when excluding automotive fuel.

Compared to December 2023, there was a 3.1 percent drop in retail sales volume turnover, predominantly driven by an 8.2 percent decline in automotive fuel sales at specialized stores.

Over the course of 2024, the retail sales volume fell by 0.6 percent relative to 2023, as reported by the agency.
