President Erdoğan and Elon Musk discussing plans for Tesla factory in Turkey

Reuters reported that Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan asked Elon Musk to build another Tesla production facility in Turkey.

Turkey’s leader and the CEO of the X social media platform, Tesla, and SpaceX had a conversation at the Turkish House in Manhattan, a skyscraper near the UN building. Turkey’s President had arrived in New York to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly.

Citing Elon Musk, several Turkish supplies are now working with Tesla. Previously, the billionaire stated that Turkey “is among the most important candidates” for his next factory.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed that his country is open for cooperation on artificial intelligence and Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service. Turkey’s leader reminded Elon Musk about his intention to cooperate with Turkey’s authorities. The President assured the entrepreneur that SpaceX would be granted a license as a satellite service provider.

Apart from this, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan invited the Tesla CEO to visit Teknofest, Turkey’s largest aviation, aerospace, and technology festival. The event is taking place in late September 2023 in Izmir.
