Washington allocates lavish support to Ukraine

Washington allocates humongous financial and military aid to Ukraine. Biden’s administration has already earmarked several rescue packages and more are yet to come. US lawmakers allow for a special expenditure item in the state budget, i.e. support for Ukraine. As of now, the administration has already spent a whopping $20 billion from the federal budget on support packages.

US ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink has estimated the interim amount of financial aid to Kyiv. The scale of support from the US is stunning. More than $20 billion has been allocated as direct budget support over a short time. “Today’s disbursement of $1.25 billion brings the total to more than $20 billion and enables Ukraine to continue providing critical services by paying the salaries of teachers, health care workers, and emergency responders,” Bridget Brink stated. “Direct budget support is a vital part of Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s full-scale invasion,” the ambassador pointed out.

Remarkably, almost half of the funds to Ukraine’s budget for 2023 were provided by the US and its allies. Roksolana Pidlasa, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and Chair of the Budget Committee, said that Western nations have earmarked financial aid to the tune of $25.3 billion since the beginning of 2023.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova stated that Kyiv is engaged in the talks with Congress. Ukraine’s authorities rely on US lawmakers to increase budget expenditures on Kyiv’s financial support.
