US-China relations on verge of red lines

Some analysts warn that nowadays people are approaching or almost crossing the so-called red lines in many spheres of their lives, including the economy, politics, space, ecology, and so on.

Not so long ago, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio said that the recent decision of US authorities to cap exports of chips and technologies for semiconductor production is an alarming sign. Such restrictions are highly likely to cause a full-scale trade war between the United States and China. “Relations between the U.S. and China are “on the brink of red lines,” as “irreconcilable issues” remain at the edge, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio said. He reminded everyone of the oil ban in the early 1940s, which led to a real war between the US and Japan. “The reason in World War II — war with Japan — you had the cutting off of the oil and then sanctioning them, taking their payments,” Dalio emphasized. “Today, there’s a “much similar situation. Chip’s like oil back then.”

If US authorities support Taiwan, this will be considered the point of no return. At present, the region is the reason for many disputes between the two global economies. “The breaking point is if the United States said, ‘We are in favor of the independence of Taiwan.’ That’s the equivalent of a declaration of war,” Dalio warned.
