Bloomberg Billionaires Index: Musk holds his spot as world’s richest person

As the autumn begins, the time comes to reap the fruit of the first half of 2023. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the world’s top 10 richest people have collectively grown their fortunes by $420.5 billion this year. The famous ranking by Bloomberg regularly updates information on the wealthiest people on earth. Autumn is considered a good time to assess the financial performance for the first six months of the year. The year-end rankings might see some changes as financial results might be revised, but for now, everything looks quite positive. Let’s start with the top three gainers. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, grabs the first place on the list, adding $98.4 billion to his net worth this year. His total wealth is now standing at a staggering $235 billion. He is followed by LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault who has gained $23.9 billion this year, bringing his net worth to $186 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos rounds out the top three of the ranking. Since the start of the year, his fortune has surged by $55.4 billion to a total of $162 billion. Oracle founder Larry Ellison has moved up the list to rank fourth on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His wealth has increased by $42.5 billion this year to stand at $134 billion. Ellison has surpassed Microsoft founder Bill Gates, leaving him the fifth richest person in the ranking. The billionaire earned $19.9 billion in the past six months to boast a total wealth of $129 billion.
