Musk changes Twitter’s name and logo to X

Elon Musk continues to introduce sweeping changes to Twitter, the social network he bought back in October. This time, Musk replaced the iconic Twitter bird with an “X” logo. At first, the radical rebranding of Twitter was mocked in social media as another eccentric move by the tech billionaire. But the bitter truth is that the old Twitter we all knew is now gone. The social platform has been renamed to X.com and the X logo has been introduced instead of the blue bird. Even before buying the company, Musk mentioned that he did not like its name. Now when being the rightful owner, he is erasing all reminders of the old Twitter. Starting with massive layoffs and structural changes, Musk has finally got rid of the old brand logo. Twitter’s famous blue and white design, recognizable by users from all over the world, has also been changed to a black and white X theme on the social network’s homepage. The plans to modify the logo were announced in late July. The billionaire explained that the idea of changing the logo to “X” was to “embody the imperfections in us all that make us unique.” However, Twitter users did not take this warning seriously given that at some point in April, the bird logo was shortly replaced with a Dogecoin image. Notably, in a few days, the Doge icon vanished as mysteriously as it appeared. For your reference, Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion. Right after the deal was closed, the new boss immediately fired top executives and laid off about half of Twitter’s staff.
