Stellantis Sues UAW Over Alleged Contract Violations Related To Strike Threat

Stellantis has taken legal action against the United Auto Workers (UAW) by filing a federal lawsuit, alleging that the union has violated their contract by threatening to strike due to the company's investment delays. This information comes from various media reports.

The automaker lodged the lawsuit on Thursday, seeking a judgment from the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Stellantis is asking the court to rule that the strike authorization vote conducted by UAW Local 230 in Los Angeles is in breach of the contract agreed upon last fall.

On Thursday night, the UAW reported that a significant number of its members at Stellantis' Los Angeles Parts Distribution Center voted in favor of requesting strike authorization from the International Executive Board. This move would be triggered if Stellantis and the union cannot resolve their dispute over the company's failure to fulfill its contractual obligations to invest in the U.S.
