Butterfly House, Slovakia
This fancy and colorful building is located in the heart of Bratislava, Slovakia. Because of its vivid design, locals call it the Butterfly House. The building is home to a 3-star hipster hotel and a contemporary art gallery that hosts various exhibitions and master classes on painting. The exterior design of the Butterfly House is also made in juicy colorful tones.
Bubble Palace, France
Hungarian architect Antti Lovag was an ardent supporter of the Bubble House concept, which represents the fundamental idea of building a house in the shape of a bubble. A huge villa sitting on the French Riviera near Cannes is considered the architect’s most striking work. Covering an area of 1,200 square meters, this fancy structure resembling a chain of pink bubbles was built in 1971. In the early 1990s, the villa belonged to famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin.
Crazy House, Vietnam
This unconventional building in the shape of a tree is one of the main attractions of Dalat, a small resort town in Vietnam. The Crazy House is home to the Hang Nga guesthouse. The building gained recognition for its unique architecture, smooth curved shapes, and many design elements representing natural forms such as roots, branches, and crowns of trees, mushrooms, animal skeletons, and cobwebs.
Habitat 67, Canada
Although this housing complex was built in Montreal in 1967, it remains one of the most extravagant and weirdest structures to this day. Habitat 67 contains 146 apartments and consists of more than 350 identical blocks, arranged in various combinations. Almost every apartment has a private landscaped garden terrace, built on the roof of the level below.
Crooked House, Poland
This shopping and office center was built in the small Polish town of Sopot in 2004. Later, it became known as the Crooked House. It resembles a distorted mirror reflection. The building is known for having neither regular shapes nor right angles. Both locals and tourists have come to like such an unusual architectural solution. Nowadays, the Crooked House is one of the main hallmarks in Sopot together with ancient buildings.
