Flag of Bhutan
Bhutan is a tiny kingdom spread out on the southern slope of the Great Himalayas. Today, this Asian country can boast one of the most spectacular and memorable flags in the world. The main state symbol of Bhutan is divided diagonally into 2 parts. A yellow triangle is associated with secular power, whereas the orange one symbolizes adherence to the Buddhist faith. The equality of both principles is accentuated by the snow-white dragon Druk, located in the middle of the flag. It is holding jewels in its paws, which represents the wealth and prosperity of the kingdom.
Flag of Brazil
This year, Brazil celebrated the 30th anniversary of its modern state flag. It is a green rectangle with a bright yellow rhombus in the center and a blue disk inside. This piece of a star sky, which reflects the national motto "Order and Progress", attracts people’s attention most of all. The number of stars in the circle corresponds to the number of states in the country. Their location accurately reflects the sky above Rio on November 15, 1889 when the Brazilian Republic was proclaimed.
Flag of Mexico
The main peculiarity of the Mexican flag is the national coat of arms depicted in the center of the flag. This central emblem is based on the Aztec legend. It recalls a legend according to which the god Vitzliputsli ordered the Indian nomads to build a city on the spot where they would see an eagle sitting on a cactus with a snake in its beak. The Aztecs saw such a picture when they arrived in the south of the Mexican highlands. There they founded the city of Tenochtitlan, which was later renamed Mexico City. The divine prophecy that came true became the plot for the coat of arms and for the flag of the country.
Flag of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is the largest state in Central Asia. The country covers more than 2,000 square kilometers. Its vast expanses are perfectly reflected by the boundless azure which we see on the national flag. The banner is also decorated with a shining golden sun, which symbolizes the wealth of Kazakhstan, including oil and gold reserves. And the steppe eagle soaring under the solar disk embodies the independence of the state and its desire to move forward.
Flag of Kiribati
Kiribati is an island country in Oceania in the central Pacific Ocean. Its geographical location perfectly conveys the flag of the country. At the bottom of the panel, there are wavy lines, which depict the waters of the largest ocean on the planet drawn in bold blue stripes. Meanwhile, white stripes stand for 3 island groups of Kiribati, which cover an area of more than 5,000 square kilometers. Above the waves, we see a bright yellow sun and, on the horizon, there is a large frigate bird hovering in the sunset glow. This is a mythical bird that represents freedom.
Flag of Belize
The main state symbol of this Central American country is decorated with the words "I'm blooming in the shade." It is not by chance that they have become the motto of Belize. The fact is that tropical forests grow in most of the country. The main natural resource of the state is mahogany, from which furniture and violins are made. It is also depicted on the banner. Next to it, there is an axe and a saw, which symbolize the actively developing forestry industry of the country. We can also see an oar and a sailboat, which represent the navy of Belize.
Flag of Uganda
The flag of this African country was adopted 60 years ago when Uganda gained independence from the British Empire. Red, yellow, and black were chosen as the main colors. One of the national symbols of the country, a crowned crane, was chosen as the main decoration of the banner. Today, this majestic bird has the status of a particularly vulnerable species, so it is protected at the state level in Uganda. The crowned crane placed on the flag symbolizes the peacefulness of the country and its citizens.
Flag of Cambodia
The flag of this Asian country is adorned by its key tourist attraction - the Buddhist temple Angkor Wat. This religious building was built 10 centuries ago in honor of the God Vishnu. The image of the temple on the banner symbolizes the spiritual beginning of the state. The red background on which Angkor Wat is painted represents the people of Cambodia, whereas two blue stripes running along the upper and lower edges of the panel mean royalty. According to its state system, Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy.
Flag of Guatemala
Guatemala is called the citadel of the ancient Maya civilization. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that its flag depicts the main sacred symbol of these Indian people – the quetzal bird. For the Maya, it represented the god of the air, and currently, it is a symbol of freedom and sovereignty of the country. Guatemalans treat this bird with special care since today it is on the verge of extinction and is listed in the Red Book.
Flag of Nepal
The flag of Nepal, which is considered by many people to be the most unique flag in the world, closes the list. Most modern banners have a shape of a rectangle or square but not this one. The flag of Nepal is made in the form of 2 interconnected triangles, which symbolize the Himalayas, the highest mountains on the planet, and the two main religions of the country, namely Buddhism and Hinduism. In addition, the flag of Nepal depicts the sun and the moon, which represent the hope of the state to exist as long as these celestial bodies, and the rhododendron flower, meaning peace and tranquility.
