According to research company IDC, in the second quarter of 2016, the global sales of smartphones increased by 0.3%, reaching 343.3 million devices. Compared to the first quarter, the main supplier companies remained in the previous positions in the world leaders rating. Experts note the success of Chinese smartphone manufacturers, which are actively selling their products in many countries of the world.
The first place on sales of smartphones went to South Korean Samsung. In the second quarter, the company increased sales by 5.5%, to 77 million units, compared to the same period last year. As a result, Samsung's market share increased from 21.3% to 22.4%.
The second place is occupied by Apple (USA). The second quarter in a row, the company is experiencing a drop in sales of the flagship iPhone smartphone. Its shipments fell by 15%, to 40.4 million units. Apple's share in the market fell to 11.8%.
The honorable third place is taken by the manufacturer of Huawei smartphones from China. Its shipments increased by 8.4%, to 32.1 million units. The market share of Huawei increased to 9.4%.
The OPPO company from China took the fourth place in the number of sales of smartphones. The company increased sales by 136.6%, to 22.6 million units.
The Chinese company Vivo closes the top five leaders. The sales volume of smartphones of this manufacturer increased by 80.2%, to 16.4 million units.
