Bosnia and Herzegovina Industrial Output Falls at Slower Pace

In January 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina experienced a modest decline in industrial production, registering a 0.8% year-on-year decrease. This was an improvement compared to the revised 2% decline observed in December 2024. The slowdown in the production downturn was attributed to a lesser reduction in the output of intermediate goods, which fell by 1.7% compared to the 3.4% decrease in the previous month. Conversely, production of consumer non-durables surged by 11%, a substantial rise from the 2.8% increase observed in December. However, output significantly dropped in several sectors, including energy, which fell by 1.7% after a previous increase of 1.7%, capital goods, which decreased by 2% compared to a 1.3% decline in the prior month, and consumer durables, which plummeted by 14.8% after a 4.7% fall in December. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production saw a 2.2% increase in January, bouncing back from the revised 2.6% decrease recorded in the previous month.
