Eurozone Lending Growth Above Expectations

In February 2025, the Eurozone witnessed a 1.5% year-on-year increase in bank lending to households, reaching €6.956 trillion. This marks the most significant annual rise since June 2023, surpassing the previous period's 1.3% increase and exceeding projections of a 1.4% growth rate. Simultaneously, loans to companies experienced a 2.2% rise, the highest growth rate observed since July 2023, compared to a 2% advance recorded in January. Overall, credit expansion within the private sector, which includes both households and non-financial corporations, climbed to 2.5%, up from 2.3%.
