Irish Wholesale Prices Drop 0.5% in February

In February 2025, Ireland experienced a 0.5% decrease in wholesale prices compared to the same month the previous year, marking a shift from the 2.1% increase seen in January. This decline was largely attributed to reduced prices in non-food items, which decreased by 1.2% following a 1.6% rise in January. Significant contributors to this trend included chemicals and chemical products, which saw a decline of 13.8% compared to 13.7% previously, as well as rubber and plastic products, which fell by 3.1% down from a 3.3% decrease. Meanwhile, price inflation slowed for categories such as food, beverages, and tobacco, which rose by 5.8% compared to a 6.4% increase in January. On a month-to-month basis, wholesale prices saw a 0.9% reduction in February, following a 0.1% uptick in January.
