Mauritius Industrial Output Rises at Slower Pace

In the fourth quarter of 2024, Mauritius experienced a 1.5% increase in industrial production compared to the same period the previous year. This was after a downward revision of growth figures from 1.7% in the prior period. The output growth decelerated across all sectors: manufacturing saw a slight decrease to 1.3% from 1.5% in the third quarter; electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply slowed to 1.6% from 1.7%; water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation dropped to 1.1% from 2.3%; while mining and quarrying fell to 9.0% from 13.3%. Quarter-on-quarter, industrial production surged by 14.1% in the last quarter, up from a 4.2% increase in the preceding quarter.
