In the fourth quarter of 2024, Hong Kong experienced an expansion in its current account surplus, reaching HKD 96.3 billion, up from HKD 61.5 billion recorded in the same period the previous year. The deficit in the goods account reduced to HKD 5.4 billion, compared to HKD 6.9 billion in Q4 of 2023. Concurrently, the surplus in the services account increased to HKD 34.3 billion from the previous HKD 28.3 billion. Remarkably, the primary income surplus saw substantial growth, reaching HKD 62.1 billion in Q4 of 2024, compared to HKD 44.9 billion the year before. However, the secondary income deficit widened to HKD 5.5 billion from HKD 4.9 billion.
