BAE Systems Inks Contract To Supply Eight Bofors 40Mk4 Naval Guns For Dutch And Belgian Navies

BAE Systems plc (BA.L) has announced the signing of an agreement with the Dutch Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) to supply the Royal Netherlands and Belgian Navies with eight Bofors 40Mk4 naval gun systems. This deal enhances the firepower capabilities of the two European naval allies.

This contract forms a crucial part of the anti-submarine warfare frigates initiative, a collaborative effort between the Netherlands and Belgium. Under this program, each country will receive two frigates, each equipped with a pair of these advanced gun systems.

The agreement encompasses not just the gun systems themselves, but also the installation process, training programs, comprehensive documentation, spare parts, and tools. An option is also included for BAE Systems' 3P programmable ammunition and additional guns for training applications. The first naval gun is expected to be delivered by 2026.

The Bofors 40Mk4 is a state-of-the-art, compact, and lightweight naval gun system engineered for both anti-aircraft and anti-surface warfare. It features the ability to swiftly switch between various types of ammunition, allowing it to effectively target threats from the air, land, and sea.
