FX.co ★ Boeing Q3 Loss Sharply Widens, But Results Top Estimates

Boeing Co. (BA) disclosed on Wednesday a significant third-quarter net loss attributable to shareholders, amounting to $7.95 billion or $12.91 per share. This marks a steep increase compared to the loss of $2.20 million or $3.64 per share reported for the same quarter the previous year.

The core loss for this quarter was reported at $10.44 per share, in contrast to a core loss of $3.26 per share recorded in the year-ago quarter.

According to a survey conducted by Thomson Reuters, ten analysts had, on average, anticipated the company to report a loss of $10.52 per share for the quarter. It should be noted that analysts' forecasts usually exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter experienced a slight decline of 1 percent, totaling $17.84 billion compared to $18.10 billion in the corresponding quarter last year. Analysts had predicted revenues of $17.82 billion for this period.

At the quarter's end, Boeing's total company backlog stood at $511 billion, which includes an order book of over 5,400 commercial airplanes.
