CAC 40 Edges Higher After Thursday's Selloff

French stocks made modest gains on Friday following a steep decline the previous day, which was driven by concerns surrounding the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

The CAC 40 index experienced a slight increase, gaining 29 points or 0.4 percent to reach 7,507, recovering from its 1.3 percent decline the previous day.

Alstom SA saw a notable rise of 5.5 percent. The company, a manufacturer of rolling stock, reaffirmed its annual EBIT margin guidance at approximately 6.5 percent, marking an improvement of about 80 basis points from the previous year. This improvement is attributed to volume and product mix, alongside efforts to reduce costs.

Sanofi also saw an increase of 1.3 percent following an agreement with the Italian pharmaceutical company Recordati S.p.A. to acquire global rights to Enjaymo, the only approved treatment for individuals with cold agglutinin disease.
