Early indicators from the U.S. Futures Index suggest a positive opening for Wall Street on Tuesday. Investors are likely to closely monitor earnings reports and geopolitical developments.
Asian markets ended mostly in the green, whereas European shares are trending downward.
As of 7:55 AM ET, Dow futures are up 25.00 points, S&P 500 futures have risen by 7.75 points, and Nasdaq 100 futures have gained 43.25 points.
U.S. major indices closed higher on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 210.82 points, or 0.53%, to close at 40,211.72, after reaching a new high of 40,351.10. The S&P 500 set a new high at 5,666.94 before settling at 5,631.22, up 15.87 points or 0.28%. The Nasdaq Composite added 74.12 points or 0.4%, ending at 18,472.57, after peaking at 18,641.53.
On the economic front, June's Retail Sales figures will be released at 8:30 AM ET, with an expected decline of 0.3%, compared to a 0.1% increase in the previous month.
The June Import and Export Prices reports will also be available at 8:30 AM ET. Predictions indicate a 0.1% decrease, following a 0.4% drop last month.
May's Business Inventories data is set for release at 10:00 AM ET, with expectations of a 0.4% growth, up from a 0.3% rise in April.
The Housing Market Index for July will be published at 10:00 AM ET, with the consensus remaining at 43, unchanged from the prior month.
Asian markets saw mixed results on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai Composite index edged up to 2,976.30, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped by 1.60% to 17,727.98.
In Japan, the Nikkei index gained 0.20%, reaching 41,275.08, and the broader Topix index increased by 0.34% to close at 2,904.50.
Australian markets closed lower, with the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 dipping 0.23% to 7,999.30, and the broader All Ordinaries index falling by 0.23% to 8,243.30.
European markets are trading lower. France’s CAC 40 is down 58.65 points, or 0.77%. Germany’s DAX has fallen by 109.14 points, or 0.59%, and England’s FTSE 100 has decreased by 39.97 points, or 0.49%. The Swiss Market Index is also down, losing 67.59 points, or 0.55%.
The Euro Stoxx 50, representing leading blue-chip companies in the Eurozone, is down by 0.68%.
