Boeing (BA) and Emirates SkyCargo have announced an order for five additional 777 Freighters. This latest purchase brings Emirates' total order of Boeing widebody aircraft to 245, which includes 10 of the 777 Freighters. Emirates SkyCargo serves as the cargo division of Emirates.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, stated, "The next phase of our strategy will involve a comprehensive evaluation of our future freighter fleet, considering all aircraft options to ensure we are optimally positioned to meet the changing demands of the market. This assessment reinforces our confidence in the vital role of airfreight, particularly Emirates SkyCargo, in global trade."
Boeing highlighted that the 777 Freighter boasts the capability to fly farther and carry more cargo than any other twin-engine cargo jet. It remains Boeing's best-selling freighter aircraft, with over 265 units delivered to date.
