United Airlines Flight Loses Wheel During Takeoff, Lands Safely In Denver

United Airlines experienced a minor incident on Monday when a plane lost a wheel during takeoff from Los Angeles. Despite the issue, the flight successfully landed in Denver without causing any harm to the aircraft or its passengers.

United Flight 1001, which was en route to Denver and carrying 174 passengers along with seven crew members, lost a wheel from its landing gear shortly after departing from Los Angeles International Airport at approximately 7:15 a.m., according to airline officials.

The Boeing 757-200 aircraft managed a safe landing in Denver just after 10 a.m.

"We have recovered the wheel in Los Angeles and are currently investigating the cause of this occurrence," United Airlines stated.

The involved aircraft is roughly 30 years old, belonging to the 757-200 series, which is no longer in production, as per reports citing the airline.

This event is the most recent in a series of incidents involving United Airlines aircraft, leading the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to initiate a safety review of the airline’s operations earlier this year. Notably, none of these incidents have resulted in injuries to passengers or flight crews.
