Indonesia Retail Sales Growth Improves To 4.4%

Indonesia's retail sales experienced continued growth for the second consecutive month in June, displaying an accelerated pace, according to preliminary data released by Bank Indonesia on Tuesday.

Year-on-year retail sales increased by 4.4 percent in June, following a 2.1 percent rise in May.

This annual growth was primarily fueled by higher sales in the categories of household equipment, clothing, and food, beverages, and tobacco.

On a month-to-month basis, sales saw a rebound of 2.1 percent in June, recovering from a 3.5 percent decline in May. This monthly uptick was driven by increased demand for clothing, cultural and recreational goods, as well as food, beverages, and tobacco, influenced by holiday effects.
