Apple Reportedly Considers Plastic Casing For Its Low-cost Apple Watch SE

Apple Inc. (AAPL) is reportedly in the process of developing a new version of the budget-friendly Apple Watch SE, according to a recent report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his "Power On" newsletter, Gurman disclosed that Apple is working on an Apple Watch SE model featuring a plastic casing, diverging from the traditional anodized aluminum. This change in materials could be part of Apple's strategy to reduce production costs for the Apple Watch SE.

Historically, Apple has launched a new iteration of the Apple Watch SE every two years since its initial release. Gurman suggested that Apple might continue to offer the current aluminum models while adding a more cost-effective version to the lineup.

Presently, the Apple Watch SE is priced at $249, whereas Samsung's most affordable model, the Galaxy Watch FE, is available at $199.

Additionally, there are rumors regarding the forthcoming Apple Watch Series 10, which may sport thinner cases and slightly larger screens. These new models, including the potential new Apple Watch SE, are expected to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 16, according to reports from AppleInsider.
