Ireland Jobless Rate Falls To 4.2%, Lowest In 9 Months

The unemployment rate in Ireland dipped to a nine-month low in February, according to preliminary data from the Central Statistics Office. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.5 percent in January to 4.2 percent in February. This rate was just slightly higher than the 4.1 percent observed in the same month of the previous year, marking the highest unemployment rate since May 2023.

The number of unemployed individuals, on a seasonally adjusted basis, also fell to 119,300 in February, down from 129,800 in January. This stood lower compared to the same period last year when it was 112,800.

In terms of youth unemployment, which includes individuals aged 15 to 24, the rate decreased from 11.7 percent to 10.5 percent.
