US national debt reaches record $34 trillion

According to the data provided by the US Treasury Department, the US federal debt exceeded the level of $34 trillion. Its size surprises both supporters and opponents of the strategy chosen by the US government.

The US debt is snowballing without seriously affecting the US economy. It means that the world’s largest economy is able to cope with such problems. However, if the country faces negative consequences from such actions, this may influence every country in the world.

To date, the size of the US national debt is more than $34 trillion. Over the past year, this figure has grown by $4 trillion.

Japan has become the leader in terms of investments in US government bonds. By the end of October 2023, its investments in US securities had reached $1.09 trillion. China ranked second with investments worth $769.6 billion. United Kingdom authorities put $693 billion into US securities, taking third place on the list.
