It turns out it’s not enough to take a high position to strike gold. For example, almost a year ago Donald Trump became the US President, which should have increased his fortune, it seemed. However, it did not.

The billionaire lost $600 million of his net worth during the first year of his presidency. According to Forbes, Trump topped the list of losers this year. His losses were the biggest; and the US President resulted only in the 248-th place with $3.1 billion in the ranks of the richest people in America. The first place seems to be secured by Bill Gates who, unlike unlucky Trump, managed to increase his fortune by $8 billion to $89 billion. Jeff Bezos, founder of internet giant Amazon and aerospace company Blue Origin, confidently holds the second place in the rating. Investor and Berkshire Hathaway President Warren Buffett rounds up the top three. These billionaires managed not only to keep their fortunes but also to increase it. Forbes noted that this year the total increase in the net worth of 400 wealthiest people in America set a new record of $2.7 trillion.

The youngest person in the Forbes top 400 is 27-year-old Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel with $3.1 billion. The oldest person in the list is 94-year-old Alex Spanos with $2.4 billion. The richest American woman is Alice Walton (co-owner of Walmart) at the 13th place with $38.2 billion.
