Is Turkey welcome BRICS member?

According to the South China Morning Post, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has expressed his country's intention to join BRICS. This issue will be discussed at a summit of ministers in Russia. All pros and cons need to be weighed before making a final decision.

"Turkey would like to become a member of BRICS. We'll see what we can achieve this year," Hakan Fidan noted. Undoubtedly, everyone is also curious to see what contribution this emerging market will make to the political bloc’s success.

Previously, during an event in Beijing, Turkey’s minister of foreign affairs pointed out that he hopes to attend the BRICS ministers' meeting in Russia. At the summit, Hakan Fidan is ready to discuss Turkey's potential membership in BRICS. However, experts believe that such a scenario is difficult to reconcile with NATO membership.

Earlier, Randhir Jaiswal, the official representative of India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that BRICS should expand. This is possible only with the consent of all the member states. These comments were made in response to a question about New Delhi's stance on Thailand's desire to join the bloc.
