US stocks closed higher, Dow Jones up 1.33%

At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose 1.33%, the S&P 500 rose 1.84% and the NASDAQ Composite index rose 2.69%.

Boeing Co was the top gainer among the components of the Dow Jones in today's trading, up 9.85 points or 7.54% to close at 140.50. Salesforce.com Inc rose 12.33 points or 7.00% to close at 188.40. Nike Inc rose 4.73 points or 3.99% to close at 123.41.

The biggest losers were Amgen Inc, which shed 5.14 points or 2.03% to end the session at 248.28. Merck & Company Inc. shares rose 1.14 points (1.25%) to close at 90.00, while Johnson & Johnson shed 0.56 points (0.32%) to close at 177.15.

The leaders of gains among the components of the S&P 500 in today's trading were General Holdings Inc, which rose 10.29% to 268.95, SolarEdge Technologies Inc, which gained 10.28% to close at 300.49, and also shares of DexCom Inc, which rose 9.86% to end the session at 311.83.

The biggest losers were Hormel Foods Corporation, which shed 5.22% to close at 45.76. Shares of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co lost 5.20% to end the session at 14.96. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc declined 4.28% to 630.70.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were NRX Pharmaceuticals Inc, which rose 47.48% to hit 0.84, Repare Therapeutics Inc, which gained 44.80% to close at 12.67, and also shares of Talkspace Inc, which rose 34.35% to close the session at 1.76.

The biggest losers were Aeglea Bio Therapeutics Inc, which shed 51.33% to close at 0.73. Shares of Immunic Inc lost 46.78% and ended the session at 3.14. Quotes Zosano Pharma Corp fell in price by 43.18% to 1.00.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (2476) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (697), while quotations of 102 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,870 companies rose in price, 924 fell, and 193 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 3.78% to 24.72, hitting a new monthly low.

Gold Futures for August delivery added 1.29%, or 23.90, to $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude futures for July delivery rose 1.83%, or 2.11, to $117.37 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for August delivery rose 1.56%, or 1.81, to $118.10 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 0.95% to hit 1.07, while USD/JPY shed 0.20% to hit 129.85.

Futures on the USD index fell 0.73% to 101.78.
