US stocks closed higher, Dow Jones up 1.34%

At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones was up 1.34%, the S&P 500 was up 2.02% and the NASDAQ Composite was up 2.76%.

Boeing Co was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 8.00 points or 6.45% to close at 132.05. Quotes of American Express Company rose by 5.42 points (3.46%), closing the session at 161.85. JPMorgan Chase & Co rose 3.92 points or 3.31% to close at 122.18.

The losers were shares of Walmart Inc, which lost 16.86 points or 11.38% to end the session at 131.35. McDonald's Corporation was up 0.99% or 2.41 points to close at 241.63 while Procter & Gamble Company was down 0.28% or 0.44 points to close at 154. .68.

Leading gainers among the S&P 500 index components in today's trading were Paramount Global Class B, which rose 15.35% to 32.32, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc, which gained 11.78% to close at 123 .08, as well as Advanced Micro Devices Inc, which rose 8.73% to end the session at 102.47.

Shares of Kroger Company shed 3.70% to end the session at 51.23. Quotes of Dollar Tree Inc decreased in price by 3.16% to 156.35.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Eos Energy Enterprises Inc, which rose 41.79% to hit 1.90, FlexShopper Inc, which gained 36.88% to close at 1.24, and also shares of Talaris Therapeutics Inc, which rose 35.93% to end the session at 8.89.

The leaders of the decline were shares of Autoweb Inc, which fell in price by 65.20%, closing at 0.79. Shares of Enjoy Technology Inc lost 52.79% and ended the session at 0.35. Quotes of Imperial Petroleum Inc decreased in price by 34.58% to 0.50.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (2514) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (696), while quotes of 98 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 3,023 companies rose in price, 797 fell, and 169 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 4.99% to 26.10.

Gold futures for June delivery lost 0.07%, or 1.35, to hit $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI July futures fell 2.25%, or 2.52, to $109.30 a barrel. Brent futures for July delivery fell 2.49%, or 2.84, to $111.40 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 1.08% to hit 1.05, while USD/JPY edged up 0.16% to hit 129.37.

Futures on the USD index fell 0.77% to 103.40.
