Elections in the United States: What's going on with the 17 prosecutors' lawsuit?

The prosecutors of 17 U.S. states (all Republicans) filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court, demanding to cancel the election results—not in their 17 states, but in the other 4. The reason is not to count ballots sent by mail on November 3 and counted after the official closing time of the polling stations.

Prosecutors demand to cancel the electoral vote, which will be held on December 14.

Due to the importance and urgency of the matter, the Supreme Court will consider and decide this issue today before 15:00 U.S. time.

Why is it all empty? The United States is a real federation—it is not a unitary state, but a union of states. This is why, for example, the President is elected not by the general majority of votes, but by the majority of votes from the states that he won. Similarly with voting, each state has its own voting procedure and counting of votes. The final decision belongs to the state, and not the Supreme Court. Of course, the Supreme Court can cancel an election in a state if it has serious evidence of mass violations. However, all these claims have already been considered in the courts - and have been universally rejected by the courts, even where the judges are solid Republicans, that is, members of the Trump party.

The chances of canceling the election are absolutely zero. Trump just doesn't want to calm down—he wants to disrespect the Democrats and Biden once again. Trump, unfortunately, is not deterred by the fact that he undermines the authority of the entire U.S. election system and the image of the US as a democracy.
