At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 1.47%, the S&P 500 fell 1.81%, and the NASDAQ Composite fell 2.10%.

The leading performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today was Walt Disney Company, which gained 4.93 points or 3.35% to close at 152.16. Boeing Co rose 2.89 points or 1.34% to close at 218.75. Coca-Cola Co rose 0.34 points or 0.56% to close at 61.38.

The biggest losers were Amgen Inc, which shed 8.28 points or 3.49% to end the session at 228.91. Microsoft Corporation was up 2.89% or 8.98 points to close at 302.23, while Home Depot Inc was down 2.55% or 9.28 points to close at 355. 09.

Leading gainers among the components of the S&P 500 in today's trading were Walt Disney Company, which rose 3.35% to 152.16, Micron Technology Inc, which gained 3.28% to close at 91.01, and also shares of Kellogg Company, which rose 3.11% to end the session at 63.58.

The biggest losers were Lumen Technologies Inc, which shed 15.52% to close at 10.83. Shares of Interpublic Group of Companies Inc (NYSE:IPG) shed 8.77% to end the session at 35.98. Quotes of Zebra Technologies Corporation decreased in price by 7.78% to 466.63.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite index today were Dermata Therapeutics Inc, which rose 32.71% to hit 1.42, Hudson Capital Inc, which gained 25.00% to close at 2,975, and Vaccinex Inc, which edged up 24.36% to end the session at 1,940.

The biggest losers were 2U Inc, which shed 47.86% to close at 9.38. Shares of Quantum Corporation lost 38.99% and ended the session at 3.020. Quotes of Aspen Group Inc decreased in price by 38.00% to 1.240.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell in price (2459) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (821), while quotes of 110 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,603 stocks fell, 1,280 rose, and 192 remained at the previous close.

Shares in Lumen Technologies Inc fell to a 52-week low, down 15.52% or 1.99 points to close at 10.83. Shares of 2U Inc fell to an all-time low, dropping 47.86% or 8.60 points to close at 9.38. Quantum Corporation shares fell to a 52-week low, down 38.99% at 1.930 to close at 3.020. Shares of Aspen Group Inc tumbled to all-time lows, down 38.00% at 0.760 to close at 1.240.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, rose 19.79% to 23.91.

Gold futures for April delivery lost 0.50%, or 9.20, to $1,827.40 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for March delivery rose 0.43%, or 0.39, to $90.05 a barrel. Brent futures for April delivery rose 0.04%, or 0.04, to $91.45 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 0.03% to hit 1.1430, while USD/JPY edged up 0.01% to hit 116.01.

Futures on the USD index rose 0.18% to 95.668.
