At the close in the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones was up 0.78%, the S&P 500 was up 0.69% and the NASDAQ Composite was up 0.75%.

Boeing Co was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 8.10 points or 4.05% to close at 208.34. Quotes Dow Inc rose by 2.08 points (3.48%), ending trading at 61.81. Visa Inc Class A rose 6.19 points or 2.74% to close at 232.36.

The biggest losers were UnitedHealth Group Incorporated, which shed 4.16 points or 0.88% to end the session at 468.41. Johnson & Johnson was up 0.82% or 1.41 points to close at 170.88 while Coca-Cola Co was down 0.74% or 0.45 points to close at 60.56.

Leading gainers among the S&P 500 index components in today's trading were United Parcel Service Inc, which rose 14.08% to hit 230.69, Mosaic Co, which gained 9.11% to close at 43.59, and also shares of CF Industries Holdings Inc, which rose 8.12% to end the session at 74.46.

The biggest losers were AT&T Inc, which shed 4.24% to close at 24.42. Shares of Broadridge Financial Solutions Inc lost 3.88% to end the session at 153.04. Trane Technologies plc lost 3.42% to 167.18.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Synaptogenix Inc, which rose 29.36% to hit 10,090, Ebang International Holdings, which gained 27.42% to close at 1,160, and Biofrontera Inc. which rose by 26.84%, ending the session at around 4.30.

The biggest losers were Knightscope Inc, which shed 41.87% to close at 12.44. Shares of Sio Gene Therapies Inc shed 23.08% to end the session at 0.900. Quotes of DLH Holdings Corp fell in price by 18.82% to 15.23.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (2429) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (868), while quotes of 92 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2880 companies rose in price, 1024 fell, and 170 remained at the level of the previous close.

Shares of United Parcel Service Inc surged to a record high of 14.08% or 28.48 points to close at 230.69. Shares of CF Industries Holdings Inc surged to an all-time high of 8.12% or 5.59 points to close at 74.46. Shares of Sio Gene Therapies Inc fell to all-time lows, falling 23.08% or 0.270 to close at 0.900.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 11.56% to 21.96.

Gold futures for April delivery added 0.35%, or 6.30, to $1,801.30 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for March delivery rose 0.22%, or 0.19, to $88.34 a barrel. Brent oil futures for April delivery fell 0.03%, or 0.03, to $89.38 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 0.03% to hit 1.1272, while USD/JPY shed 0.04% to hit 114.67.

Futures on the USD index fell 0.29% to 96.255.
