FX.co ★ US shares lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.08%

At the close in New York, the Dow Jones lost 0.08%, the S&P 500 lost 0.87% and the NASDAQ Composite lost 2.47%.

In the leaders of growth among the components of the Dow Jones at the end of today's trading were shares of Verizon Communications Inc, which rose in price by 2.20 points (4.35%), to close at around 52.75. The Travelers Companies Inc added 2.30% or 3.65 points to end at 162.02. International Business Machines gained 2.29% or 2.82 points to close at 125.93.

The biggest losers were Apple Inc, which fell 3.93% or 7.04 points to end the session at 172.26. Microsoft Corporation was up 2.91% or 9.75 points to end at 324.90, while Salesforce.com Inc was down 2.66% or 6.92 points to 253. ,12.

The top gainers among the S&P 500 index components at the end of today's trading were Newmont Goldcorp Corp, which rose 8.80% to 59.00, AT&T Inc, which gained 6.95% to close at 23.71, and Accenture plc rose 6.74% to trade at 400.60 at the close.

The biggest losers were Adobe Systems Incorporated, which fell 10.19% to close at 566.09. Skyworks Solutions Inc shed 8.47% to trade at 146.39. Xilinx Inc prices were down 8.24% to 199.78.

The leaders of growth among the components of the NASDAQ Composite index at the end of today's trading were shares of Adagio Therapeutics Inc, which rose 123.31% to 14.18, Kaixin Auto Holdings, which gained 36.29% to close at 1.690, and shares Assertio Therapeutics Inc, up 23.70% to end at 1.6700.

The biggest losers were Uniqure NV, which fell 29.60% to close at 20.24. Aerovate Therapeutics Inc shed 25.93% to end the session at 9.14. P3 Health Partners Inc prices fell 21.47% to 8.74.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell (1,773) exceeded the number of securities that closed in positive territory (1,493), while the quotations of 137 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange 2588 companies fell in price, 1247 rose, and 203 remained at the level of the previous close.

Accenture plc shares rose to all-time highs, up 6.74%, 25.30 points, to close at 400.60. Uniqure NV fell to a 3-year low, down 29.60%, 8.51 points, to close at 20.24. Aerovate Therapeutics Inc fell to historic lows, falling 25.93%, 3.20 points to trade at 9.14. P3 Health Partners Inc shares fell to historic lows, falling 21.47%, 2.39 points to trade at 8.74.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, was up 6.64% to trade at 20.57.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 2.03% or 35.80 to $ 1,800.30 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude oil futures for January delivery rose 1.55%, or 1.10, to $ 71.97 a barrel. Futures contract for Brent oil for February delivery was flat 0.00%, or 0.00, to trade at $ 74.62 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, the EUR / USD pair was up 0.04% to hit 1.1332, while the USD / JPY was up 0.00% to hit 113.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 95.948.
