Colombia Inflation Rate Hits Lowest Level Since 2021

Colombia's annual inflation rate moderated to 5.09% in March 2025, a decrease from the four-month peak of 5.28% recorded in February, and falling short of market expectations of 5.15%. This marks the lowest inflation level since October 2021, as the pace of price increases slowed for several sectors: transportation (+4.88% compared to +5.64% in February), housing (+6.29% from +6.58%), restaurants and hotels (+7.34% from +7.73%), health (+5.3% from +5.42%), and education (+7.27% from +7.38%). Conversely, the rate of increase for food prices accelerated slightly (+4.67% compared to +4.56%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.52%, indicating a slowdown from February’s 1.14%—the fastest increase since February 2023—and almost meeting the projected 0.58%.
