Malta Producer Prices Drop for 2nd Month

In February 2025, Malta experienced a 0.5% year-on-year decline in producer prices, marking the second consecutive month of reductions. This decrease, however, was not as significant as the revised 0.9% drop recorded in January. The decline in prices for intermediate goods slowed to 3.5%, compared to a 4.1% decrease in the previous month. During the same period, costs for capital goods rose by 1.4%, up from 1%. Consumer goods also saw a cost increase of 1.4%, an improvement from 0.8%, driven largely by a rise in non-durable consumer goods, which climbed 1.6%, up from a previous 0.9%. Energy prices held steady at 0%. On a month-to-month basis, producer prices fell by 0.1% in February, reversing a 0.1% increase observed in January.
