According to Yonhap news agency, US tech giant Apple and South Korean car maker Hyundai Motor are discussing a potential tie-up to develop electric vehicles and batteries. A Hyundai representative explained that the parties were at the initial stage of discussion and no decision had been made yet. However, this news was enough to send Hyundai shares up by 19%. Hyundai Motor officials confirmed that they had previously received requests for cooperation on joint development of autonomous electric vehicles from various companies. “Nothing has been decided yet,” the company points out. Several sources report that Apple has been holding talks with other global automakers on the EV project.
