Trump to present infrastructure blueprint in January

Citing a senior official at the White House, President Donald Trump intends to present his long-promised infrastructure proposal in early January. The President pledges to allocate $1 trillion for a large-scale recovery of the nationwide network of roads.

Dealing with such a costly project, Donald Trump will face a new challenge. Will a Republican-led Congress be able to pass an expenditure plan with enough federal funding? Referring to the same official, the White House’s proposal is nearly complete and the President has recently reviewed it. The blueprint sets out principles and expenses on upgrading roads, bridges, airports, and similar public facilities. The document reads that at least $200 billion will be provided from federal funds over 10 years. The remaining $800 billion will be distributed by state authorities, localities, and private investors.

Meanwhile, experts are expressing different viewpoints. Naysayers believe the prospects of the project’s approval by Congress are rather slim. They say it would be too difficult to negotiate funding in a bipartisan way. Others are cautiously optimistic about congressional enacting the infrastructure bill in 2018. At the helm of the White House, Donald Trump has been accustomed to fierce disagreement, criticism, and scandals. So, his team finds solid support from the population who cheered the infrastructure project during Trump’s presidential race.
