Further growth became limited because the test of 149.31 coincided with the sharp rise of the MACD line from zero. Shortly after, another test occurred, and this time the MACD line lay within the overbought area, provoking a sell signal. This led to the pair falling in price by over 30 pips.

The Bank of Japan set a new range for interest rates ranging from 0% to 0.1%, changing the short-term interest rate from -0.1%, stating that its inflation target had become achievable. It also abandoned its complex yield curve control program, promising to continue purchasing long-term government bonds as needed. However, no hints of further rate hikes were mentioned, leading to a sharp decline in yen.

For long positions:

Buy when the price hits 150.49 (green line on the chart) and take profit at 151.25. Growth could occur in continuation of the upward trend.

When buying, ensure that the MACD line lies above zero or rises from it. Also consider buying USD/JPY after two consecutive price tests of 149.94, but the MACD line should be in the oversold area as only by that will the market reverse to 150.49 and 151.25.

For short positions:

Sell when the price reaches 149.94 (red line on the chart) and take profit at 149.17. Pressure will unlikely return today, so be cautious with sales.

When selling, ensure that the MACD line lies below zero or drops down from it. Also consider selling USD/JPY after two consecutive price tests of 150.49, but the MACD line should be in the overbought area as only by that will the market reverse to 149.94 and 149.17.
