US stocks closed lower, Dow Jones down 0.49%

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 0.49%, the S&P 500 index fell 1.42%, the NASDAQ Composite index fell 2.51%.

The leading gainer among the components of the Dow Jones index today was Boeing Co, which gained 6.45 points or 2.97% to close at 223.90. Quotes of Caterpillar Inc rose by 4.60 points (2.07%), closing trading at 227.00. Walmart Inc rose 2.03 points or 1.42% to close at 145.47.

Shares of Microsoft Corporation became the leaders of the fall, the price of which fell by 13.47 points (4.23%), ending the session at 304.80. Salesforce.com Inc. was up 9.20 points (3.87%) to close at 228.63, while Apple Inc was down 3.34 points (1.90%) to close at 172. ,nineteen.

Among the S&P 500 components gaining today were Biogen Inc, which rose 5.03% to hit 236.67, Kroger Company, which gained 4.96% to close at 49.48, and American Airlines Group, which rose 4.54% to end the session at 19.34.

The losers were ServiceNow Inc , which shed 9.31% to close at 520.00. Shares of Lumen Technologies Inc shed 7.67% to end the session at 12.27. Quotes of Bio-Techne Corp fell in price by 7.16% to 397.68.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Singularity Future Technology Ltd, which rose 25.88% to hit 5.010, Medavail Holdings Inc, which gained 24.41% to close at 1.58, and shares of Vinco Ventures Inc, which rose 22.57% to end the session at 3,530.

The biggest losers were Vyne Therapeutics Inc, which shed 21.45% to close at 0.785. Shares of Kymera Therapeutics Inc lost 15.90% to end the session at 42.68. Quotes of Kidpik Corp decreased in price by 15.62% to 6.16.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of depreciated securities (1,785) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (1,469), while quotes of 120 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,648 stocks fell, 1,156 rose, and 208 remained at the previous close.

Shares of Kroger Company surged to an all-time high of 4.96% or 2.34 points to close at 49.48. Vyne Therapeutics Inc shares fell to all-time lows, falling 21.45% or 0.214 to close at 0.785.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, rose 15.27% to 20.31.

Gold futures for February delivery lost 0.28%, or 5.20, to $1,822.10 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for February delivery fell 1.17%, or 0.97, to $81.67 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for March delivery fell 0.08%, or 0.07, to $84.09 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 0.03% to hit 1.1457, while USD/JPY edged up 0.02% to hit 114.19.

Futures on the USD index fell 0.05% to 94.850.
