FX.co ★ 2016 APEC Summit in Lima

The International APEC Summit gathered all major politicians of the world in Peruvian capital Lima. On Saturday the leaders of world powers met at the plenary session and at the formal reception hosted by President of Peru Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. On Sunday the leaders met at the official photo shoot.

During the summit politicians discussed such issues as the global economy, integration processes in the Asia-Pacific Region, an agreement on free trade zone, and terrorism problems.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had several bilateral talks during his visit to Peru. Putin met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, President of Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte, US President Barack Obama, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and head of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang.

Reportedly, Vladimir Putin invited Barack Obama, who leaves the office in January, to Moscow. Russian President outlined that Obama is welcomed in Russia at any time.

Talking with China's leader Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin promised to visit China in May 2017.

This summit is the last for Barack Obama whose term expires in January.

During the summit all participants were grouped into five thematic knots. Thus, Russia, Taiwan, Canada and Papua New Guinea were members of one group. These countries discussed what can be done in order to sustain long-term investments and financial stability.

The delegation from South Korea arrived to the summit under unusual circumstances. Due to unstable political situation in the country (protests against current President Park Geun-hye) Prime Minister of South Korea Hwang Gye Ru came to Peru.

Currently, the APEC economic zone develops at the fastest pace. Apart from politicians, some businessmen visited the summit. Thus, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg was seen at the forum.
