FX.co ★ I-Pace: Jaguar's first electric car

Soon, the Jaguar's electric car will be put into mass production. For now, I-Pace is presented as a concept car. The citizens of Los Angeles were the first to assess the new crossover from the British car brand.

I-Pace doesn't look like a normal crossover, because it has a low roof, short front overhang, and the cabin is shifted forward. Designers, who developed this car, said that the electric platform allowed them to freely design the car.

The platform of the car is based on a battery pack, embedded in an aluminum frame, to which the compact electric motors and suspension are attached.

The I‑PACE Concept has two electric motors that together produce 400 HP of power. It is noteworthy that the car is a four-wheel-drive one.

Compactness of the electric motors has an important role - due to their short length and diameter they take practically no place in the interior of the car. The range of the I‑PACE Concept is enabled through its high‑tech, lithium‑ion battery which has a capacity of 90 kWh.

The I-PACE Concept achieves sports car acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. The car can offer a range greater than 500 km on a single charge. It can achieve 80% charge in 90 minutes.

It is noteworthy that Jaguar has developed this car from scratch, the technology wasn't purchased from the third-party companies. However, the electrical components for the car are likely to be produced by other brands.

The length of I-Pace reaches 4680 mm. The rear luggage carrier of this concept electric vehicle has a capacity of 530 liters, the front one - 28 liters.

The car is designed for four people, including the driver.

The I-PACE's front panel have three built-in touch screens, two of them are 12-inch and one is 5.5-inch.

The Jaguar's first production electric car will be shown to the public in 2017. The company's representatives aim to bring it to market in 2018. I-PACE will be available not only for residents of the United States, but also in Russia and other countries.
