- On Tuesday, November 8, the Indian capital New Delhi got completely filled with smoke. According to the World Health Organisation, the air pollution exceeded the safe level in 90 times and the set by the Indian authorities threshold level in 15 times.
- The majority of schools is closed, any construction work is prohibited. The Indians move almost blindly.
The reason for this smog is too active celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, or New Year in India. As a result, the smoke and soot particles from the numerous fireworks have been hanging in the air for more than a week, mixing with the smoke from burning grass in the surrounding fields.
The smoky park in New Delhi looks like a fairy foggy picture, but in fact the smoke greatly complicates the life of all who walk this way.
Because of the smog, it's dangerous to drive on the roads: visibility isn't more than 200m.
In order to avoid tragic incidents the Delhi authorities banned all construction and dismantling work.
Through the smoky veil the sun is barely visible. New Delhi has become a hostage of this smog. There is yet no hope it will dissipate fast.
