The first-ever purchase of an apartment with bitcoin took place in 2017. Since then, the acquisition of real estate objects with crypto became the new norm. Nowadays, many real estate agencies across the world offer this service to their clients, which, by the way, is in demand. Over the last 5 years, the real estate market has seen several unprecedented purchases involving BTC. The acquisition of entrepreneur Michael Komaransky’s mansion is one of them. He sold his 2-storey and 900-sq.m. villa in Miami for 455 bitcoins ($6 million).

University education

Education has always been expensive. Nowadays, university tuition fees cost thousands of dollars worldwide. However, the number of students paying their alma maters in bitcoin has been on the rise lately. In 2013, the University of Nicosia became the world’s first educational institution to allow students to pay tuition fees in bitcoin. Its counterparts in Europe, Asia, and the US followed suit afterward.

The first high-profile purchase of a car for BTC took place in 2017. American programmer Peter Saddington (in the photo) paid 45 BTC for a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan sports car, which was equivalent to $200,000 at that time. The Italian car maker was one the first in the world to allow clients to pay for its vehicles in crypto. This service was introduced in 2013. Since then, the number of crypto-friendly car brands has grown noticeably.

Virgin Galactic, an American aerospace company specializing in space tourism, became one of the first to accept BTC as a payment means. It has been almost 10 years since its head, Richard Brenson (in the photo), announced such a decision. The first client who paid for a ticket to space in BTC was a crypto investor from the Hawaiian Islands. The cost of a suborbital flight on a Virgin Galactic spacecraft is currently estimated at $450,000.

Jets

Crypto investors who are not ready to go to space yet but dream of flying within our atmosphere, can put their BTC in a private minijet. SkyCraft Airplanes, an American aircraft manufacturer, will give you such an opportunity. In 2013, the company built an SD-1 Minisport, a single-seat low-wing aircraft. It became the first jet to be sold for crypto. Its initial price was 80 BTC or $55,000.
