Thousands of life jackets have been laid out on the grass in Parliament Square in London, as world leaders meet at the United Nations in New York to discuss the refugee crisis. The 2,500 jackets used in the one-day "life jacket graveyard" installation were all worn by those who tried to make the crossing from Turkey to the Greek island of Chios.

The campaign demonstrated the scale of the migration crisis, the cause of which was humanitarian, military and political crisis in the Middle East and Africa.
According to the organizers, each life jacket on the area under the Big Ben symbolizes the three refugees that died in the waters of the Mediterranean, seeking a better life.
The life jackets were taken from the warehouse on the island of Lesbos. The idea was embodied in the reality by the charitable organizations that protect refugees. Installation was timed to coincide with the UN Summit, which will address the issue of migration. The summit kicked off on Monday, September 19.
