Russia Fines Google $20 Decillion

Russia has imposed an astronomical fine on U.S. tech giant Google, amounting to two undecillion rubles—equivalent to a figure followed by 36 zeros—for restricting Russian state media channels on YouTube.

In dollar terms, this fine translates to $20 decillion, which equates to approximately $20 billion trillion trillion. This sum far exceeds the total global net wealth, estimated at $477 trillion by Boston Consulting Group, as well as the worldwide gross domestic product of roughly $105 trillion, according to the World Bank.

Google's parent company, Alphabet, currently holds a valuation of around $2 trillion. Remarkably, this fine is about 10 billion trillion times higher than the company's market value.

Reports from Russian state media outlet TASS indicated that a Russian court previously mandated Google to reinstate the blocked YouTube channels, some of which have been inaccessible since 2022, threatening escalating fines with penalties doubling each week as a consequence for non-compliance.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS, conceded that he was unable to articulate the vast figure of the fine, yet he urged Google's management to give the matter serious consideration.
