In February 2025, Macau experienced a slight increase in its trade deficit, reaching MOP 7.9 billion compared to MOP 7.7 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports saw a significant boost, climbing by 29.7% to MOP 1.2 billion. This growth was driven by a substantial 31.8% rise in re-exports and a 9.1% increase in domestic exports. Among major categories, there were gains in sales of textiles and garments (0.5%) as well as non-textile products (32%). Conversely, imports grew by 5.5%, amounting to MOP 9.1 billion, mainly due to a marked 30.4% uptick in food and beverage purchases. For the combined months of January and February, Macau's trade deficit saw a modest decrease to MOP 17.5 billion from the previous MOP 18.8 billion. This was largely attributed to a 13.8% rise in exports coupled with a 5% decline in imports.
