FX.co ★ Not only oil and gas: what Russia exports besides raw materials

First of all, Russia is a major supplier of metallurgical products. As the Federal Customs Service of Russia informed, the value of metal units exports exceeded $30 billion. The largest demand is for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and also products from them. The main market player is VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation producing titanium goods. The company is the main supplier of titanium for Airbus and Boeing.

Last year the total volume of exported domestic mineral fertilizers amounted to more than $11 billion. The Russian Federation occupies the second line in terms of the total potash fertilizer output, as pointed out in a study of the U.S. Geological Survey. The Uralkali domestic brand is one of the largest factories producing such fertilizers, about 85% of the output is exported.

Last year the export value of the Russian machines and equipment was equal to more than $26 billion. The main demand here is for industrial machinery. For example, the Uralmash heavy machine engineering enterpriseis a supplier of the equipment for mining and metals companies.

The domestic Sukhoy Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) short range aircraft has recently become particularly popular. The aircraft plane is manufactured by the civilian unit of the United Aircraft Corporation. China, Mexico and other countries got interested in the Russian airplane. The advantage of the airliner is low costs per a passenger as compared to its rivals.

Russian military-oriented products were always popular in foreign countries. The share of the domestic weaponed machinery in the world trade is 27%, it is almost one third of the global volume of the product.

Finally, helicopter industry. Today the production of helicopters in Russia is one of the advanced directions in the export economy. Modern technologies and materials which allow to realize unique design solutions are used in the industry. Last year's data show that Russian helicopters are used in more than 100 countries.
