In late January 2018, one of the largest companies in the world, Amazon, opened in Seattle (the USA) a new office complex called The Spheres. This unusual building consists of several spheres with a lot of trees from different corners of the planet growing inside. We bring to your attention an elegant example of office paradise.
According to representatives of Amazon, the construction process of this monumental office complex took seven years. The Spheres cost about $4 billion. The interior decoration of the building resembles an ecological reserve with a cascade of fountains and stairs entwined with lianas and samples of exotic flora.
Plants, living inside the office and conquering almost all the space, were brought from 30 countries of the world. Among them, there are many ferns and ficuses, as well as several begonias and alocacia. The office fauna consists of tens of thousands of species.
Inside the spheres that make up Amazon's new office, a special microclimate is maintained: the temperature does not exceed 22 degrees, and the humidity remains at 60 percent. The transportation and replanting of the 16-ton Ficus rubiginosa tree was the most complicated thing caused a lot of problems. It was planted 16 years ago on one of the farms in Southern California. A tree, like a living creature, is named Ruby.
Outside, the office consists of three glass domes connected to each other. The height of the largest of them is 27 meters. Space is designed for 800 employees. The building is divided into several levels. Between them, comfortable stairs are constructed.
In one of the spheres, there is a vertical garden. Its riot of greenery pleases the eyes. Particular attention deserves the rooms for negotiations which are stylized as bird nests.
At the very top of the building, there is a special recreation area for employees equipped with deckchairs. Above the high glass ceiling, visitors can see a lot of lamps in the form of balls. They seem to repeat the contours of the building scattering the soft matte light around.
